Scores, the clock, possession, down and distance and the full play-by-play come from ESPN, fetched by your browser rather than baked into the page — so what you see is what the source says now, not what it said at the last rebuild. It refreshes every twenty seconds while a game is in progress and every forty-five otherwise, stops entirely when this tab is in the background, and does not poll at all on a day with no FBS football.

If the feed stops answering, the last good scores stay on screen and the stamp above says so rather than blanking or pretending. Anything ESPN does not publish for a game — a drive chart that has not started, plays for a game still in pregame — is left out rather than guessed at.
